Ventures into Biblical Stories

Trinity St. Andrew’s United Church (TSA), in Brighton, is delighted to be the host community for two Climate Motivators. David and Kimberlie are young adults who are employed for 8 weeks with the UCC Climate Motivator program, but making their home base at TSA. Through funding from Seeds of Hope, partnering with the former VIBE program, and accessing some interest from TSA’s Education Fund Kimberlie and David have accepted five more weeks of employment.

Each week either Kimberlie or David offers a climate moment in worship helping the congregation to become more aware of issues related to caring for God’s creation and each week we will share their climate moment with you, the readers of ECORC Chronicle.

The motivators will also be encouraging the congregation to learn more about the climate reality our world is living. They will host three lunch and learns after church, viewing of climate documentaries, creating a VBS program titled “Caring for … God’s Creation”

Caring for God’s Creation The Program at St Paul’s

August 4 to 7

It is a half day program, geared to children 4 to 12. The leaders provide leadership of the content but need volunteers from the host faith community to organize advertising, registration, small group leaders with the children, craft helpers and snacks each day. Any volunteers over 18 would require a vulnerable sector police records check.

The themes for the week are:

  • Day 1: Light and Darkness

  • Day 2: Sky and Water

  • Day 3: Land and Plants + Day and Night

  • Day 4: Fish and Birds

  • Day 5: Animals and People

  • + As this is a 4 day week, the leaders will make adjustments to the 5 day program.
